Interesting article, comparing the new Google+ service to the current social media behemoth, Facebook.
In some respects, Google+ does offer many compelling reasons to "switch" from using Facebook. If you are unhappy with Facebook in some way, or just want to "start over" in your social media activities (I think a good many people are astonished that their Friend lists on Facebook have become so unmanageable - so large!) then sure, you might want to make the switch to Google+.
But I think that most people will try out Google+ and maintain a presence on both services. Just as many people have a Facebook account, plus one on Twitter, and on and on. There are dozens of social media/sharing websites available to us now, and I don't think there is one clear winner - and there never will be.
There will usually be reasons to stay on a particular social media website; your friends are there being the primary reason. I think that Google+ and Facebook will coexist for many years to come.
